I belive we can group mankind as a whole into four groups.

People who don’t serve God. Pretty self-explanatory. Those who have either not yet heard the Good News or those who have rejected the Gospel. Everything from atheists to those who believe there’s another god (small “g” on purpose).

People who serve God when things are going well. Yea! Life is good so I’m cool with God. All is well. Lah-lah-lah . . . the grass is beautiful. The sky is beautiful. The world is beautiful . . . and then they step in a pothole and life isn’t so grand anymore. If trials arise (and get a clue, they always do) then they seperate themselves because they’re too busy worrying to trust God or they are angry with Him.

People who serve God when things are bad. The good thing is you know where to go in times of trouble, but I do have to say you’re missing out on a lot. God isn’t a lucky charm to bail you out of the problem you probably got yourself into. Perhaps if you were consulting Him, following Him, serving Him when everything was grand this whole catastrophe could have been avoided. On the other hand, don’t you get tired of people who only come to you to get something? While it is one of His specialties, our loving Heavenly Father is certainly interested in more than just problem solving.

People who serve God all the time–regardless. While we can stumble and fall, repent and refocus often, there’s a group of people that strive to walk the talk. The moment-by-moment seekers that desire the highest form of relationship on this earth, communion and union with the Almighty. There’s nothing more incredible than hearing the small, still voice of the Holy Spirit within you. There’s an all-the-time relationship available with the Father. With the Son. With the Holy Ghost.

But consider it to be a “member’s only” gathering. There are certain “perks” that come with paying the price. Not everyone is going to enjoy the same benefits. It’s available to “whosoever will” and I have determined and set my course to be a “whosoever.” I guess the best part is we get to choose how much we want, how far we want to go.

“He that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Heb 11:6

While the four categories represent mankind, I encourage you to take just a moment and consider which group you’re traveling with. If it’s not the last one, you can change your membership at any time. God bless.
