Now, my disclaimer prior to unleashing this poem on you: It’s loud and extreme, but makes the point. It’s not to offend (maybe some holy stirring would be good).
As we near the start of another school year, whether student or parent, we need to lift our peers and children up in prayer. Prayer to strengthen them to make a stand for Christ in growing darkness and protection from the plans of the enemy to kill, steal and destroy anyone and everyone he can. Our Lord is greater! He is stronger! The Almighty! The Creator and The Just Judge!
(This poem came to me untitled and author unknown.)
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the state.
We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s “inappropriate” to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such “judgments” do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen
I can not imagine the things our children have to face daily or even what fears they may confront every time they leave the house. Pray. Pray. Pray. We can make the way for God to enter the school halls again and cause a revival in our youth. He desires to infuse and empower these young lives with supernatural, overcoming, life-changing influence and ability. Let’s make it easy for Him to do. PRAY!
No matter how bad it looks, we always win in Christ.

This sentiment always bothers me, because it assumes that it is illegal to pray in public schools. It is not. Anyone is allowed to pray in school. What is not allowed is for the school itself to make arrangements for one religion without making arangements for all others. It is illegal for a school to say “now is prayer time”,because different religeons pray at different times in different ways. However, a personal, private prayer should not be stopped, providing it doesn’t interfere with other students. If you go to school, and you are told you are not allowed to pray, then your civil rights have been violated.

Thanks for sharing this, I’ve gotten it before in emails, but lost it somehow. I totally agree that we need to PRAY, and if 1 aethist woman can take prayer out of schools, then the body of Christ can certainly get it back in! If you don’t mind, I’m going to piggyback and put your post on my blog – we need to reach as many people as possible and so on, and so on.
God Bess,
